Haul 2 - Clarins and Viva la Diva

Happy Midsummer!

I live somewhat close to the arctic circle, well it crosses this country haha. And now, this weekend, we celebrate Midsummer, the time when the sun does not set and we have bonfires. This Midsummer, or Juhannus as we call it, is going to be so much fun!

Now, the part 2 of my blush haul. These are not from any online store, I bought these from a department store and the Nordic equivalent of Sephora, Kicks. Here is part 1 of the blush haul.

I got a -20% coupon for a department store. I decided to go buy a high end blush. I tried and tried, and finally made up my mind, and got a Clarins blush in Soft Peach. Blush Prodige - Illuminating Cheek Colour. The blush normally costs around 40€ and from that I got 20% off.

The packaging is gorgeous! It reminds me of YSL packages. I don't own any YSL, but a gold package only screams luxury. The packaging gets covered in fingerprints reeeaally easily. It does come with it's own little red pouch, but that doesn't protect the package from finger prints.

As you can see the blush brush is still in it's package. Haha. I am not going to throw it away even though I am not going to use it.

The blush is just lovely on the skin! It is so incredibly natural.  There are small gold flecks, but they aren't visible in the picture.

The other blush I bought is Aloha by Viva la Diva. If I just look at the packages alone, these two blushes should not be talked about in the same blogpost. Haha. Viva la Diva's packaging, and the font of their name is just awful. The blush is a nice coral, again very natural.

I'll put the swatches of these two to the same blogpost where I will have the Physician's Formula and Sleek blush swatches.

Happy Midsummer if you celebrate it! Have a nice weekend otherwise!

PS. I was so freaken ecstatic this morning when I noticed my blogpost where I swatched UD Naked palette and Sleek's Storm-palette next to each other, was featured in Nouveau, Cheap! It really made my day!!! Thank you so, so much!

Haul 1 - Physician's Formula

After a long search I finally found some Physician's Formula blushes!

I got the Physician's Formula Happy Booster  Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in Natural and Rose.

I will post swatches of these after I have written the other part of my blush haul. Yes, I have another one coming. ;) I'll make it as it's own separate blogpost, because I will be doing swatches from the Sleek blushes I bought a while ago.

I ordered mine from iHerb, and I had not ordered there before. I used a code for first-time buyers and I got $5 off. When I ordered I too got a code to give out. Now this works like a pyramid. I used one code, and this person got a certain percentage of that sale. Then I got a code to give out. If you use that code, I will get a certain percentage of that sale, and the one whose code I used also gets a certain, smaller percentage of the purchased amount.

iHerb-code - 5 USD off of your first purchase at iHerb. Use my code BIF719 to receive 5 % off.

It took two weeks for the blushes to arrive. In my package I got some tea samples, and one measuring tape!

They are so cute!!!

Trophy Wife

For this look I used Glamour Doll Eyes shadow Trophy Wife. It is a gorgeous metallic gold shadow.

First I applied MAC's Painterly paint pot. Then I just started applying Trophy Wife. I used a medium brown shadow in the crease and with that I blended out the Trophy Wife.

You can use something like Ben Nye's Espresso, Buck from Urban Decay's Naked-palette, Sleek's Storm-palette has two great matte browns. MAC's Omega is the only matte brown shadow from MAC, but I guess you could use Satin Taupe as well. Or a darker brown shadow.

In this look I used Omega for my brows and Maybelline's One by One mascara.

UD Naked - Mötley Crüe

I saw Mötley Crüe this past week and it was so much fun!

I did this makeup look for the concert, but then I remembered what it was like the last time I saw them play, and washed it off and just did some eyeliner and mascara. I knew they had been throwing fake blood onto the crowd very generously lately so I thought about that too. When I saw them earlier it was so freaken hot in the venue, and I was very close to the stage, sweating like a crazy person.

First I applied MAC's Painterly on the lid. Then Virgin from the Naked palette in the inner corner and under my eyebrow on the brow bone so that a little of it would be in my crease as well to ease blending later.

I applied Sin onto the inner half of the lid. With a flat eyeshadow brush I took Creep, and applied that in the outer corner and spread the shadow along my lash line towards the middle. I took a little more shadow and placed the brush in the outer corner and brought the shadow straight up to the crease. I used what I had left of Creep on my brush and brushed it along my crease.

With a blending brush I applied Gunmetal to the crease.  With that I blended out Creep. Also I moved the blending brush, and the leftovers of Gunmetal, on my lid smoothing out the vertical edge of Creep towards the center of the lid.

I used MAC's Blacktrack fluidline to line my eyes. I applied that on my tightline and waterline as well.

I used Maybelline's One by One mascara first, and topped off the look with IsaDora's Big Bold mascara. I have a review coming up of Big Bold. This is my second tube of it! First one I was gifted, but the second one I bought, just so you all know. ;) Also, same time I was gifted Big Bold, I got One by One, but I have used that one up already, this one I bought.

Hope you like it!

Summer glow - look and product ideas

Happy first of June! Are you wearing a dress. I hear it is International Dress -day today!

I think this summer's trend is glowy skin and natural peach and bronze tones. Personally I don't like to use eyeshadows in the summer. Well now I don't feel like I would wear much eyeshadow, it would just feel like too much.

Also corals and oranges are great for the summer. I just don't happen to own any coral lipstick, or a coral blush... Should get a blush like that though... Any good suggestions?

I started out with applying Nivea's SPF 30 sun screen on my face. (Yes, I took the photos a few days ago, now it's all rainy, gray and wet outside, plus I'm staying inside today.) I let that sink in for about 20 minutes before applying makeup.

I used a powder foundation.

I tend to apply Lumene's eyeshadow primer on my lids, and then going over that with the baked mineral foundation because that is how the primer works best. Over that I applied MAC's Bare Study paint pot with a light hand. It is also possible to use Painterly, which is a matte paint pot, and apply a light gold or bronze eye shadow over it. Also you could apply something like Morning Frost paint pot over Painterly to get a nice sheen, a wet look on the lids. You could also use GOSH's waterproof eyeshadow sticks in the shade 002 golden brown, for example.

l-r: Painterly, Bare Study, Morning frost.
I filled in my brows with MAC's Omega shadow

For a bronzed look you need bronzer (and bronze eyeshadow if you like, I know mine weren't too bronze-y, but I thought those were good cause they were cream products, and I prefer them in the summer).

You can use something like L'Oreal's Glam Bronze bronzers. I have a duo bronzer in Harmonie Blondes, and a trio bronzer for Blondes. I also have a matte bronzer by Lumene in the shade Arctic Sun which I mainly would use for contouring. I have to be careful with the Lumene bronzer cause it can very easily be too orange-looking on the skin if applied too heavily.

Lumene - Arctic Sun

The duo bronzer is not matte, but is almost is. It has a lighter highlighter shade and the darker side can be used for contouring as well. The trio is all shimmer. I use the pink and gold mixed together as a highlight just a little over the area where I apply blush, and then I swirl over them a few times and once over the darkest third color and apply that on my forehead, and the places where sun naturally hits first. In the trio the pink is really difficult. It is difficult to pick up the color.

For blush I used (I think) Sleek's Pixie pink with a really light hand. Pixie pink is a really vibrant, matte hot pink. Something like Maybelline's Pure Mineral blush in 20 Moonlight mauve or 10 Topaz Rose would also be great.

Sleek - Pixie pink

For lips I'd use a light, sheer lipstick or something like a tinted lip butter. I think Korres' Plum lip butter looks great even though it is a dark shade. It can be applied in a very sheer manner.

For lashes I used Maybelline's One by One mascara, and a dark brown matte eyeshadow that I applied with a angled liner brush to the lash line.

I realize the photos don't do justice for the bronzed, glowy skin that I had.

What are your favorite products to use for a bronzed look?
